Your own Superpower

While hurriedly pacing up and down the living area "Aren't you nervous?" said Priya
Glancing at Natasha sitting by the window just gazing out and sipping coffee.
Natasha looked at Priya and asked with raised eyebrows "Nervous? Over what?"
"Aren't you meeting Adi's sister tomorrow?"
"Yes, but how is that supposed to make me nervous?"
Saying this Natasha adjusted the pillow supporting her back against the wall and went back to sipping her coffee. Leaving Priya surprised by the composed response.
Priya started again "Are you going to take a gift for Adi's sister?"
"Didn't think of that.. May be some chocolates"
The calmness of Natasha's responses was unnerving for Priya who seemed to be more perturbed by the meet tomorrow.
"Natasha are you really so cool about all this?? Doesn't it bother you that your future sister-in-law meets you tomorrow for the first time? What if she doesn't like you? What if you both don't get along? What impression will she carry of you back to her family?"
"To be truthful I wonder does this really matter? I have been this person at I am and more or less shall be the same irrespective of people liking or hating me for what I am." said Natasha with a wink.
"Hmm.. that's it!!! That keeps you cool?"
"See Pri where we stand today and what we are today has been contributed by our experiences over the years. If being liked by people is what is moving us we might end up messing ourselves up."
Priya was just listening to Natasha with an awee.. in her eyes. So Natasha continued "Liking or Disliking me is everybody's personal choice.. I'd rather let them do it for themselves rather than being a puppet to the opinion of the masses."
Priya nodded with a smile. "See that's my superpower... I love myself the way I am" chuckled Natasha.

We reel under the pressure of being liked or being popular among the people we meet. But, the truth is that all we need is to break out from being on the receiving end. We are this individual today owing to the numerous small and big things that have happened in our lives. And we must identify and love ourselves so that we don't put ourselves up for a change just so that we can fit into somebody's likes and dislikes. We all need to love ourselves and nurture the goodness inside us. And that is one sure way to spread love.
