She was not at fault neither guilty of a default...

It was 2 a.m. and like most of the days the Kapoor household was lit up again late at night. It was routine for their daughter Amaira to be woken up at odd times based on her flight schedules. Amaira was a pilot for one of the prestigious airlines. She was a dynamic and energetic girl with dreams of traveling the world. So she had already come to the decision of being a pilot in her adolescent years and was very passionate and eager to make her dream come true one day.

“Have you packed some of my special cookies too?" asked her mother.
"Mom, I'll be back in three days so don't bother. "

Mrs. Kapoor walked into Amaira's room with a small box of cookies.

She began placing them in Amaira's bag as she spoke, "Share them with your co-workers. They will be finished before you know it. Moreover you can eat these when you get bored of the hotel food."

Amaira glanced at her mom in silence. And turned back to pinning her badge on the uniform.

"There is no logic above mom's logic. " she joked.
Mrs. Kapoor chuckled with a sense of pride and accomplishment over her small but significant step.

"Mumma I don't have much time I'll drink tea and leave."
"Tea and sandwiches are ready.  Eat something before you leave. You know I won't send you on an empty stomach."
"Mumma i don't have time. You pack the sandwiches, I'll have them in the cab."

Amaira rushed to the dining table and picked up her cup of tea n returned to her room.  She sipped the tea as she combed her hair, tied it and wore her shoes. She picked her bag and moved towards the kitchen to say bye and leave.

"Bye ma..." She kissed her mom and said.
Mrs. Kapoor handed her a small box of packed sandwiches and came to the main door to see her daughter off. Amaira sat in the cab and the two of them waved to each other.

Amaira sat in the cab eating her sandwich. She couldn't help but think over the events of the past few days.

In a recent lay off by her previous company to adjust a new member to the crew Amaira had suddenly lost her job on the pretext of cost cutting by the airlines. She had worked hard for all these years to achieve her dream but all of a sudden her dream lied shattered in front of her eyes. The worst part was that there was nothing she could do about it. She was not at fault neither guilty of a default but yet she was in this situation where to adjust someone with influential back up she had suffered the brunt of being a commoner. Amaira had been disheartened and felt weighed down by the system.

When she had first received the news about her eviction Amaira couldn't believe her eyes as she was going through an email by her employer regarding the same. She had gone home and cried her heart out on finding out that she had been replaced to adjust someone with an influential backing. Amaira felt insecure like her world had come crashing down. She had been looking for a job for a month but was not getting satisfactory results. This was building up frustration and disbelief in everything around her.

Mrs. Kapoor had been noticing the way her daughter had been affected badly by the untoward turn of events in her life. She had often boosted Amaira's morale by taking to her and moulding Amaira's confidence every other day.

Mrs. Kapoor had often told her, "Life may sometimes be unjust towards you, you may feel like every event is successively pulling you down. Hang in there, hold on to the hope within you. Never let difficult moments or sorrows pull you down into darkness." And that is exactly what Amaira had done.

Amaira's thoughts were interrupted by the driver, "We have reached madam"

As Amaira got down from the cab and picked her bag to enter the airport once again on duty; she felt a surge of happiness envelop her.

Life may be tough at times, but being tougher than the situation is the option we should exercise is to be tougher than the situation. Never let circumstances break you even in your darkest hour because the future always beholds things we can not speculate in the darkness.
