Missing Out the Moment....

At the airport.....

Tara was rushing through the crowds trying to finish her boarding formalities so she could sit back and update others about her forthcoming travel. She quickly finished her check in and was now waiting in the lounge for her boarding announcement. Without wasting much time the first thing to be checked off her list for the vacation was to put up her selfie with a Starbucks coffee cup in hand with an update to let the world know of her upcoming trip with her girl gang. So Tara bought herself a coffee and sat in an appropriate chair to get the best view of the lounge, herself and of course the coffee in hand.

And the next moment she updated her Facebook and Instagram acquaintances about her excitement.

Soon the boarding was announced and she reached New Delhi where all her friends had planned to gather to catch an onward flight to Phuket. The recent commonality among all of them were their social media updates besides the mutual likes and comments for each other.

As Tara's flight landed in New Delhi she collected her luggage and went to the international terminal gleaming with excitement for the trip. Also it was a long time after which she and her friends had been able to actually materialize a trip together.

As decided earlier, her friends had already gathered outside the airport terminal. Tara was the last one to reach. 

As she came, all of them exchanged greetings and with all excitement another selfie to declare they had made it work. Like all the Instagram savy friends and followers they too had successfully managed to set off on a "fun trip with friends".

And the next urgent thing to do... *Updating the pic with fun hashtags* 

As everybody's phone popped every now and then the excitement was rising. It marked the pouring in of comments, likes, loves, waooo n etc on their updates. The world had to see their fun side.

They checked in and boarded. Soon the flight landed.

They were picked up by a representative from the hotel who had come to receive them. Not much chattering had happened after the boarding as all were tired for the day.

So they reached the hotel, ordered food and slept. Tomorrow was going to be a great day filled with fun in a new unexplored land. 

As the morning sun rose they woke up and gathered for their breakfast buffet. They were meeting in person after a long time. Everyone had moved quite a few leaps since college. As they began catching up on each others lives; the initial banter slowly began dying down as one after the other they kept getting drawn out of the discussion due to the social media frenzy they had created. They finished breakfast along with the sense of accomplishment that their friends, colleagues, acquaintances and everybody else was aware of their trip and probably a bit jealous too. There is nothing compared to the high you can get from making others jealous.

Soon after they went to their rooms, got dressed for a fun day of sightseeing together. As they kept going places seeing monuments, gardens and cliffs together. The evenings passed at the beach, around campfires. Capturing the beauty of the place, the food and everything they saw in their cameras waiting to reach the hotel to upload the pictures again all over social media. Its mesmerizing to witness how social media frenzy has turned from a rare option to a pressing habit.

The four day trip finished the same way gathering more pictures and less memories. They only thing they had thoroughly enjoyed was adding filters to their pictures and checking the reactions and comments over them. 

Soon all of them were back at work sitting behind their desks, loathing over having no time for an actual social encounter or another get together.
